Dollar advances as consumer confidence falls (AP)

The dollar rose slightly Tuesday after a private research group said consumer confidence unexpectedly fell in June. The 16-nation euro bought $1.4042 in late New York trading, down from the $1.4086 it bought late Monday.

Oil falls 2 percent on drop in consumer confidence (Reuters)

Oil fell more than 2 percent to below $70 a barrel on Tuesday after a steep drop in U.S. consumer confidence data in May added to concerns over a potential economic rebound.

US dollar higher in Europe (AP)

The U.S. dollar was higher against other major currencies in European trading Tuesday. Gold fell. The euro traded at US$1.4017, down from US$1.4086 late Monday in New York.
